The Aquitaine area is abundant in history with many castles and medieval towns constructed at the time of the 100-years war. The picturesque bastide town of Eymet in the Dordogne with its cafes and restaurants is within 5 kilometres.
Within easy reach are Sarlat, Monpazier, Monflanquin, Les Eyzies (famous for its cave dwellings and paintings) and of course there is wine tasting in Duras, Monbazillac, St Emilion, Bordeaux, Bergerac just a few of the many famous vineyards.

EYMET, situated about 20 kilometres from Bergerac, is one of the most popular towns in the Dordogne. The area offers a multitude of restaurants for lovers of fine food and wine, and those who want to soak in the atmosphere of the old buildings and history. An area faithful to its farming and wine growing roots since ancient times it is one of the most beautiful in France.
The calm and tranquillity invites you to discover the rich heritage. The red roofs of the bastide are the back-drop for the economic heart of the area that combines all the amenities of the modern world with the charms of the past.
In the summer season, the town comes alive with the vibrant Tuesday night market and there are many traditional events which take place throughout the summer period – The Wine and Oyster festival is one in particular not to miss.

LES EYZIES In the heart of the Vezere Valley and is surrounded by many caves and prehistoric drawings which include some of the most beautiful to be seen in Europe. The cave-lined, prehistoric settlement in the Vezere Valley has been classified as a heritage site by UNESCO. It was near Les Eyzies that Cro Magnon man was discovered at the end of the 19th century, in the form of three homo-sapien skeletons, as well as the cave paintings at Fond de Gaume.
BERGERAC, situated mostly on the Dordogne's north bank and overlooks a wide flood plain, which bursts into life for the summer when cafes and restaurants spill out into the cobbled squares and alleyways. The best place to start is beside the old port where you can take a trip on the river on a Bagarre (the old wine boat) before taking a short walk from the port to the Museum of Tobacco (Musee de Tabac). From here the compact old town spreads gently uphill, a calm and pleasant area to wander.
